I first discovered Acai on a trip to the North Shore of Hawaii. They serve it out of food truck and it’s glorious. You may have also the Instagram posts of brightly coloured bowls topped with #coconut, #chia and pretty much every superfood under the sun. We are pretty certain, we have perfected the Acai Bowl recipe and thought it was only fair to share with our #wanderercollective Community!

 

Acai is full of nutrients and antioxidants, and with the added superfood toppings smoothies have gone from a snack to a full breakfast meal.

Acai Benefits:

+Similar to red wine, research shows that acai berries are extremely high in anthocyanins, a form of plant antioxidant associated with the ability to lower cholesterol levels in the bloodstream.
+Acai may help us not only lose weight, but maintain a healthy weight
+ Beauty products are carrying acai oil,  due to the oil’s high antioxidant content.  Taken internally, the berries can also give your skin a healthier glow.
+ Aids in keeping our digestive system clean and in optimal function. The berries have powerful detoxification capacities in the human body and are a well-known traditional source of dietary fibre.
+Acai berries contain properties may prevent the typical irritation associated with respiratory distress.
+The anthocyanins found in acai play a role in our cellular protection system, helping to keep cells strong against the invasion of free radicals.

Acai Bowl Recipe

INGREDIENTS

    • 2 medium bananas
    • 2 tablespoons acai (try this)
    • ½ cup frozen strawberries
    • ½ cup frozen blueberries
    • ½ cup frozen mixed berries
    • 1 cup almond milk
    • Toppings:
    • Granola
    • Almonds
    • Shredded Coconut
    • Pepitas
    • Honey
    • Chia seeds
    • Extra fruit of your choosing

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Place all the ingredients  in a blender and blend until smooth.
  2. Top with you favourite toppings.
  3. Take a photo Instagram worthy.
  4. Enjoy 🙂
