Almost out of nowhere the sleepy surfer town of Canggu shot up to be Bali’s busiest new neighbourhood.  Just 15 minutes north of Seminyak, Canggu is a surfer’s oasis bursting at the seams with new cafes, coffee shops and boutiques popping up every week.

During my latest visit, I spent my time at The Pineapple House Retreat, where I worked at cafes during the day between surf and yoga lessons. It’s very easy to see why so many people are choosing Canggu over Seminyak or Kuta.

Although its getting busier every year Canggu is still maintaining that epic surfer island vibe it had 10 years ago, head to Batu Belong for your morning surf and set up for the day with one of these top Canggu cafes that are perfect for digital nomads.

Peloton Supershop

When deciding where to eat in Canggu it’s hard to go past the OG of plant-based cafes and our personal favourite Peleton Super Shop.

This cool Canggu foodie stop is more than just somewhere to eat. A winning combination of a Plant-Based Cafe & ‘Bicycle Store’ that aims to share the fun & ease of living a conscious lifestyle.

Their menu is full of fun, vibrant dishes and their coffee is the bomb. Plant-based blogger Elsas Wholesome life has collaborated with Peloton Supershop on some signature dishes including the Aloha Bowl, a rainbow vegan poke bowl, soba rainbow bowl, if you have her cookbook you will see a similar recipe! She also designed a range of smoothie bowls each one more beautiful than the next!

My favourite item on the menu is the nasi campur. Other menu favs that you MUST try are the Ms Jackson Tacos, Rendang Burger (pulled jackfruit marinated in rendang spices), Tricken Parmy, and the sweet potato fries.
For drinks it’s hard to go past: juices, smoothies, coffee (try the iced mocha latte made on coconut milk), healthy shots, kombucha (‘Celebration’ by 220 Kombucha is the bomb) and ‘da-coco’.

Seriously their menu is so good, they are easily one of the best cafes in Bali,  you will want to keep going back until you have tried it all! They are open for breakfast and lunch and luckily now also doing dinners! Yay!

Milk and Madu

Milk and Madu Canggu is a super inviting cafe located in the main street of Berawa. They are kid-friendly and with their open-air style venue you can sit for hours working away or stop in after your surf for a refreshing juice with the afternoon breeze.

They offer all-day breaky, perfect for those of us who aren’t early rises (especially on holidays)!  Try their skillet eggs or colourful smoothie bowls. For lunch, it’s hard to go past their famous lava stone pizza, they offer a range of topping and even cater for vegetarians! A little tip- if you are around on Tuesday or Sundays they offer two for 1 pizza after 5 pm!

Nude

Nude is the perfect spot to go for uninterrupted wifi! I loved working from this clean and comfortable cafe. Their wifi is super fast, but even better they have both outdoor seating or any inside room with AC. Their motto is ‘no food nasties’ so you can always dine knowing you are getting a healthy and nourishing meal.

My top picks, the poke bowl, vegan protein salad or one of their tasty burgers!

They are open breakfast lunch and dinner, from 7am to 10pm.

Milu by Nook

One of the loveliest places to grab a coffee and work, this cafe is located in Berawa just on the outskirts of Canggu. It was walking distance from my villa so I found myself here most days.

I love this place because of the open-air back yard, the incredible styling and friendly staff, you walk in and immediately feel that good vibe! It is usually fairly quiet during the days and the service is super fast, another added bonus is that their tables are nice and big for working on!

Try the poke bowl, veggie burger or vegan pad thai. This is definitely of the best Canggu Cafes!

Betelnut Cafe

One of the first Canggu cafes to set up shop, Betelnut offer healthy, wholesome delicious meals. Located only five minutes from Echo Beach in Canggu, this prime location has views of ricefields and is closed to an array of shops and hotels.

The menu is full of great options including healthy wraps burgers and an array of Mexican options like burritos and tacos. There’s a really cool vibe too thanks to the thatched roof and tree house style  open-air dining. They also do super good juices and smoothies and if your feeling a bit cheeky grab some of their baked goods.

The Slow

A more sophisticated Canggu Cafe, The Slow is a brilliant mix of boutique accommodation and a contemporary style eatery. The multifaceted island stay also incorporates drinks, art, local culture, and interactive retail, all set on the coast of Canggu.

The chef Shannon Maron has an innovative take on ingredient-focused cooking with an island accent, using local produce to create pieces of art.

The light and airy space makes this one of the best cafes in Canggu. It screams sophisticated bohemian, go for the ever-changing tasty menu and stay for the cool vibe and speciality cocktails.

  1. Ooooooh Milu by Nook looks so lovely! We will likely be traveling here soon so this article is super helpful in knowing where we can find wifi for our work while we travel the area. Out of curiosity, what time of the year did you travel / when would you recommend going there?
