Throw a virtual party
The Houseparty app allows you to make direct calls, but you can also create different rooms with multiple people, with up to eight people in one room at a time where you can move from party to party, just as you would in a house party. You can also lock your room so no one else can join, otherwise, you can have several rooms open at a time.
If you want to arrange a party for friends celebrating a milestone wedding anniversary, you can arrange a surprise party online. Just ask them to set up a video call with you, then give their friends and family the link to join too.

Play games online
Whichever video-chat service you use, from Zoom, Whatsapp or Google Hangouts, there are some fun activities you can do, apart from putting a funny background on Zoom. You can play charades, put on a talent show or complete crossword puzzle easily. Google Chrome extension Netflix Party lets you watch a show or movie together, and has a chat attached. Use Zoom whiteboard to play Pictionary or use an online random trivia generator for a trivia quiz.

Send a gift
On special occasions, it is nice to be able to send gifts to our friends and relatives. This is especially so for a milestone celebration. Buy your gifts online and have them sent directly to their home address. This is particularly important for wedding anniversary presents as hard times can put relationships under pressure, so it is important that a token of love be exchanged. Choose a gift that lasts, like a piece of jewellery or home décor that acts as a reminder that you can get through hard times together.

Fine dining at home
Celebrating special occasions usually means heading out to your favourite restaurant to eat, but during hard times that’s now always possible. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy some excellent cooking at home. Rope in housemates, family or partner to cook a three-course meal for your special day. Alternatively, have a restaurant close by to deliver your favourite dishes.
In the home, decorate the table for the occasion. Include your favourite music and have a bottle of wine to create a ‘restaurant at home’ experience, adding candles for romance.

Dance in your living room
Taking care not to disturb any neighbours, you could celebrate your milestone by putting on some music and having a dance with the people you live with. There are many recorded concerts online, and some are live-streamed, so check your calendar to see what’s happening, with artists like Billie Eilish, BTS, and Dua Lipa and many more. Also, search out virtual raves and recreate the nightclub experience in your home like and enjoy some live beats from professional DJs.
