Take a step back in time and enjoy the quaint and community-driven area of Bingin, Uluwatu. This area reminds me of how Canggu and Seminyak were 20 years ago. A quiet paradise with friendly locals.

Situated amongst the untouched lands of Bingin beach, Green Escape Bali Boutique Resort offers a true eco Balinese experience in the most charming way.

Thanks to the unbelievably quiet location, the sustainability of the hotel, the friendly staff and the very reasonable price, it is a must-visit for every Bali itinerary

Location of Green Escape Bali

Uluwatu is located just 20 minutes from the airport in the Bukit Peninsula of Bali. It is a well-known beach destination most famous with the surfers.

The Green Escape eco bungalow is ideally situated within walking distance of Bingin Beach (350m, to one of the best beaches in Uluwatu) and around a 10 min drive from Uluwatu and one of our best Bali travel tips is spend at least 4 days in Uluwatu. Its one of our favourite spots in Bali.

Cashew Tree Cafe (which I highly recommend) is around the corner and The Loft is about 15-20 minute walk.

First Impression of Green Escape Bali

This quaint hotel oozes charm and sophistication, which is why it’s on our best accommodation in Uluwatu list.

As soon as we arrived I fell in love with decor and finishes.

The lobby (which also doubles as the restaurant) is set in a grand open-air bungalow with cane light fittings, matching cane furniture, wood finishes and a cute little eco shop!

Rooms at Green Escape Bali

Matt and I stayed in Villa Mahoni, a one bedroom bungalow with a luxurious outdoor bathroom! The villa had a king size bed, a lounge and you walk straight out to enjoy the view of the turquoise blue pool.

The beautiful white bed in the centre of the room was complimented perfectly with intricate wood carved finishes. As I entered the bathroom I was blown away by the grand solid concrete sink. Seriously, talk about bathroom goals! The whole bathroom had flowers everywhere! Even the toilet, which made our arrival so welcoming!

Sustainability at Green Escape Bali

The earth is an amazing place, but we don’t always treat it in ways that reflect our amazement. It’s not entirely our fault, the world we live in is driven for mass consumption and the education around travel sustainability is not at the forefront of our days- especially in the hospitability industry.⠀⠀⠀

I am extremely passionate about sustainable tourism so it was very exciting and intriguing to see what Green Escape was doing for the environment.

During my travels whenever I stay at a hotel I thoroughly look into their environmental factors and how they are adopting sustainable measures.

Often there is something they can improve on and I leave helpful feedback via email and reviews to hopefully push them in the direction they NEED to go!

I didn’t have to do that with Green Escape Eco Resort. Here are some of the sustainable efforts the boutique hotel is using.

  • Eliminating plastic especially in the form of water bottles and toiletries
  • Better waste management strategies
  • Solar power
  • Cleaning products that don’t harm the earth
  • Encourage recycling in the hotel room
  • Water saving showers
  • Employing locals and implementing a strong sense of community
  • Using natural local building materials and sourcing fresh local produce
  • Healthy pool ionizer

Editors Tips: Next time you stay at a hotel and notice some ways they can change to be more eco-friendly don’t be shy to reach out to them and make some suggestions!

Amenities at Green Escape Bali

Green Escape Bali serves up a gorgeous breakfast in the open air bungalow. You can choose from the buffet as well as Al la Carte options. There weren’t any vegan options but you can omit the eggs or meats in the options. The staff were happy to do this for us and I got the Smashed Avo with a side of mushrooms both morning. They don’t have coconut or almond milk unfortunately but I could get a soy cappuccino. The coffee was actually really good!

Green Escape has a gorgeous pool in the centre of the 5 bungalows, this with the perfectly lush gardens make this boutique hotel very picturesque!

Green Escape also offers scooter, car rental and babysitting,
They also organise fun classes and workshops including cooking class, jamu and herbal medicine class, yoga classes. Or if you just want to relax they have a range of spa treatments available.

The staff took excellent care of us. Upon arrival,  we were welcomed with a virgin mojito that was spot on and so refreshing! Their kindness and smiles unwavered during our entire stay. They always went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. If you are lucky you will also get to meet the beautiful owners Marine and Alex. They will assist you in any activities and tours you might want to take!
