Checking in: Suarti Boutique Village Ubud

As we arrive at Suarti Boutique Village, we are greeted with the sounds of birds filling the space of the beeping horns we left behind in Kuta. I am handed an ice-cold refreshing guava lemonade and an equally cold wet towel, always a lovely treat after travelling the 2 hours in peak heat.

I am fairly sure we were all overwhelmed with pure joy and excitement as we unknowingly skip to our room. It’s pure paradise and should be apart of everyone’s Bali itinerary. Hidden in the rice paddies surrounding Ubud, Suarti Boutique Village is the perfect place for a romantic getaway (or in my case a cute family trip), in the most vibrant and culture-filled town!

Ubud known as the heart of Bali is much more than where yogi’s gather and sometimes never leave. It’s a place of true spirituality and the perfect balance of authenticity and familiar comfort. The town was originally an important source of medicinal herbs and plants and gets its name from the Balinese word ubad meaning medicine. A lot of travellers who visit often leave feeling healed and reset just from the culture and atmosphere of the cool mountain village.

The impressive grounds of the property is located just on the outskirts of town and sits across acres of lush rice fields. The hotel is comprised of Joglo style rooms and private pool villas, with an on-site healthy restaurant, spa and free daily tours. With all this, you might expect a hefty price tag but Suarti Boutique Village boasts luxury at an affordable price, making it the perfect pick for your next trip to Ubud!

Location of Suarti Boutique Village

Suarti Boutique Village is located in the centre of Bali, up in the hills of Ubud. Around 2 hours from the airport, the hotel sits just outside the hustle of the main town.  The village is surrounded by lush rice fields and the grounds themselves have been landscaped to make you feel like you are inside of a hidden jungle. The location actually couldn’t be more perfect, as you are far enough away from the busy streets to make you feel like you are in an oasis whilst still only a short car or walk away from all the cafes and shops Ubud is known for.

The walk into town is around 15 minutes and is an adventure in itself, passing amazing fruit shops, local villages, rice fields, monkey forest and some pretty yummy cafes. Don’t go past Warung Sopa for a cheap and delicious bite to eat!

Rooms at Suarti Boutique Village

We are shown around our Joglo, a gorgeous Javanese style hut with a huge queen bed and a charming bathroom. Each bungalow has a little verandah and is surrounded by tropical palms and lush greenery!  Immediately you are hit with pure sense relaxation and calmness.

The village is comprised 3 rooms types including a one bedroom or two bedroom villas uniquely styled with a private pool and a ricefield backdrop.  Small pathways lead to various the villas and the pool which are all shaded by large palms and other tropical plants.

Although the grounds are not small there is a sense of personalized comfort. The unique touches add character to the property drawing on the atmosphere of Ubud itself and creating the perfect retreat for travellers looking to unwind a bit.

Decorated in warm tones, the rooms blend authentic tropical vibes with modernity with in-room amenities like luxury bedding, large bath, aircon, and flat-screen TV.
For me, there are a couple of important factors for a perfect room; tranquillity, a comfy bed, shower pressure and working wifi, bonus if there is a desk to work from!

What I loved most about the Joglo was the fact it was free standing and surrounded by a tropical garden adding a sense of privacy.

The room had:

  • Wi-Fi Internet access
  •  Air-conditioning
  • LED TV
  • Minibar
  • Tea/coffee making facilities
  • Spa Bath
  • Hairdryer
  • Iron & ironing board
  • Work desk
  • Free toiletries
  • Room Service

Dining at Suarti Boutique Village

Start the day with a full healthy breakfast served in your room or at the on-site Restaurant Kassava. With a range of cuisines including American, Indonesian, Japanese and healthy and dietary options, there is something for everyone. A lunch and snack menu is available all day, we mostly hung around the pool and ordered lunch and cocktails to our day beds.

My favourite meals were the breakfasts, there was so much to choose from! I usually ordered an American or Indonesian style breakfast, with a side of fresh fruit or smoothie bowl. The restaurant also had fairly decent coffee which is always a plus!

We often ordered at lunch at the pool. There’s a traditional wooden bell called a Kul Kul, to call the waiters over so you can order cocktails and lunch poolside. Pictured below was the Tom Yum Soup,  sweet potato black bun burger and of course a fresh coconut!

Facilities at Suarti Boutique Village

Whether you want to relax by the pool with a refreshing cocktail surrounded by palms, wander through beautifully landscaped tropical gardens or unwind with a pampering massage, you will find it all at Suarti Boutique Village.

For explorations of the surrounding countryside and valley, guided walks can be arranged, bike hire and tour organisation can be enquired about with the staff. ?

I would recommend doing a bike tour of the village, an authentic cooking class, visiting Tegalalang Rice Terrace or if you don’t like crowds Jatiluwih rice terraces is just as beautiful! There are also some great waterfalls waiting to be explored!
