Location of Dorsett Kuala Lumpur
Location, location, location! That is the first thing that comes to mind when I think of Dorsett Kuala Lumpur! Right in the centre of KL’s Golden Triangle, Dorsett Kuala Lumpur has everything you would want in a city hotel!
A short 5 minutes’ walk will take you to the Shopping Malls and foodie area of Bukit Bintang. Whilst KKLC and Petronas Twin Towers are also close. The hotel is just 45 minutes from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport and can be reached via metro, tax, bus or private transfer.
Rooms at Dorsett Kuala Lumpur
The hotel built in 1998 has recently undergone an extensive refurbishment of its room and suites, offering their guests refreshed and stylish accommodation with a prime location yet an affordable price.
I stayed in a Dorsett Standard Room, and the first things I noticed was the size of the room! It was so spacious, something lacking in a lot of city hotels in Asia. Although the interiors are not my style they are elegant and chic and most importantly super clean with all the modern amenities! The rooms feature pillow choice, HD TVs, free wifi, minibar and custom Dorsett toiletries!
The Dorsett Kuala Lumpur also offers family rooms, deluxe premier room, Dorsett suite and massive executive suite measuring 60 sqm.
The Hong Kong-owned chain is predominately run by females which shines through in the little touches that make Dorsett Hotel a top pick. In my room, I received a gorgeous teddy bear, cookies and the coolest hand drawn map. The map had special local restaurants to try as well as recommendations on what to do and see, with the corresponding walking distance. We also received a reusable shopping bag so when you are out and about you can opt out of using plastic bags!
Dining at Dorsett Kuala Lumpur
You have two dining options at Dorsett Kuala Lumpur, Checkers Restaurant and Windows Lounge.
Checkers Cafe is an all-day dining space offering value meals and a great selection of local cuisine as well as international dishes featured in the a-la-carte menu. This is also where the generous buffet breakfast is served.
On the 1st Floor, you will find the Windows Lounge that offers snacks and has a dedicated bar.
The breakfast buffet was phenomenal. There were varieties of bread, pastries, fruits, cold cuts and cereals. They also had an array of hot dishes featuring both western and Asian dishes. An egg station was a popular choice whilst I opted for the delicious Nasi Lemak and Roti Chanai my favourite dishes when visiting Malaysia! The buffet breakfast was a real stand-out, as there was every food imaginable catering to all palates and tastes! The chefs even bring around fun sample canapes for dishes they are testing.
During our stay, we were given a hands-on cooking demo by the head chefs at Checkers restaurant. We were taught how to make roti with chicken curry and then served a delicious authentic 6-course lunch.
Cooking classes are available upon request which I highly recommend it was such a fun experience cooking for the lovely head chefs!

This was a shared Media famil between WorldHotels and AirAsia. I was hosted at the respective hotels but as always opinions, photos and ideas remain my own.
