Almost out of nowhere, the once-sleepy surfer town of Canggu has exploded into one of Bali’s busiest and most vibrant neighbourhoods. Just 15 minutes north of Seminyak, this coastal enclave has transformed into a buzzing hub for surfers, digital nomads, and food lovers alike. Streets that were once lined with rice paddies are now dotted with world-class cafes, specialty coffee shops, and boutique eateries â yet somehow, Canggu has managed to hold onto its laid-back island soul.
Iâve been travelling to Bali for over 15 years â more than 30 trips â and have explored every corner of this island, from the quiet villages of Sidemen to the beautiful beaches of Uluwatu. Iâve built entire itineraries, family travel guides, and insider tips for thousands of readers planning their own Bali adventures. And every time I return, Canggu is a place I canât resist. On my most recent visit, I based myself in a quieter village -Seseh (5 mins north of Pererenan Canggu), splitting my days between surf sessions, yoga, hanging with the fam and âworkingâ my way through the best breakfast menus in town.
This guide to the best cafes in Canggu isnât just another list pulled together from Instagram photos â itâs the result of years of first-hand visits, taste-testing menus, sipping countless flat whites, and scouting the perfect spots whether youâre here to fuel up after the waves, enjoy a long brunch with friends, or set up for a few hours of remote work.
Below, youâll find my tried-and-tested favourites â from iconic brunch institutions to hidden gems â complete with what to order, what makes each cafe special, and tips for avoiding the busiest times. Whether youâre a coffee connoisseur, digital nomad, smoothie bowl lover, or just here for the pastries, this is your ultimate cafe-hopping guide to Canggu. Here are the best cafes in Canggu.

Penny Lane
Penny Lane in Canggu is where boho-chic meets rock ânâ roll. This Insta-worthy cafĂŠ is a visual feast, with its grand archways, vintage chandeliers, and graffiti-covered walls giving off serious retro-cool vibes. Think tropical oasis meets underground speakeasyâperfect for those who love a mix of artsy and edgy.
We got lucky and our toddler fell asleep on our way to Penny Lane so my husband and I got to enjoy a stress-free brunch. We ordered the big breaky, avocado toast and a side of truffle fries. As well as my standard order of an oak iced latte with hazelnut and ice cream.
Beyond its striking dĂŠcor, Penny Lane serves up indulgent comfort food with a modern twist. Expect loaded burgers, fresh smoothie bowls, and signature cocktails that are almost too pretty to drink.
Whether you’re here for brunch, a late lunch, or a casual evening hangout, the laid-back energy and buzzing social scene make it a must-visit. And, of course, no trip here is complete without snapping a photo under the iconic “Penny Lane” neon signâbecause if you didn’t take a picture, did you even go?

Milk and Madu
Milk and Madu Canggu is a super inviting cafe located on the main street of Berawa. They are kid-friendly, and with their open-air style venue, you can sit for hours working away or stop in after your surf for a refreshing juice with the afternoon breeze.
Milk and Madu is one of my favourite Canggu Cafes for breakfast. They have so many options, including Breakkie burrito, fluffy pancakes, breakfast bruschetta and even breakfast cocktails. They also offer all-day breaky, perfect for those of us who aren’t early risers (especially on holidays)! Try their madu skillet eggs or colourful smoothie bowls. For lunch, it’s hard to go past their famous lava stone pizza; they offer a range of toppings and even cater for vegetarians! A little tip- if you are around on Tuesday or Sunday, they offer two for 1 pizza after 5 pm!
Bonus: They also have locations in Batu Bolong, Uluwatu, Ubud and coming soon Seminyak!

Nude
Nude is the perfect spot to go for uninterrupted wifi! I loved working from this clean and comfortable cafe. Their wifi is super fast, but even better they have both outdoor seating or any inside room with AC. Their motto is ‘no food nasties’ so you can always dine knowing you are getting a healthy and nourishing meal.
My top picks, the poke bowl, vegan protein salad or one of their tasty burgers!
They are open breakfast lunch and dinner, from 7am to 10pm.

Copenhagen
Copenhagen brings a slice of Scandinavian charm to Canggu, with a focus on fresh, wholesome food and a minimalist, beachy aesthetic. Their build-your-own breakfast boards are the star of the show – think rye bread, eggs, smoked salmon, cheeses, fresh fruits, and homemade jams, all beautifully presented.
The light-filled space is relaxed yet stylish, making it a perfect spot to start your day slow. Whether youâre grabbing a quick coffee before hitting the waves or settling in for a long, lazy brunch, Copenhagen is a Canggu favourite for good reason.

Baked
If youâre a brunch lover, Baked. is one of those Canggu cafes youâll want to visit more than once. Known for its fresh, artisanal bread and perfectly flaky pastries, this spot has mastered the art of the slow, indulgent breakfast. Their sourdough is legendary, the almond croissants are the stuff of traveller dreams, and the coffee is strong enough to get you ready for a day of exploring (or surfing).
While their baked goods steal the spotlight, the full menu is just as tempting. I love going to this Canggu cafe for breakfast and getting the shakshuka – its baked fresh in a skillet and the avocado toast piled high with flavour. Everything here feels elevated yet relaxed – much like Canggu itself. The minimalist, sun-filled interior makes it a perfect place to linger, people-watch, and plan your Bali adventures over a second latte. Hot tip: get there early, especially on weekends, as the tables fill up fast.

Milu by Nook
One of the loveliest places to grab a coffee and work, this cafe is located in Berawa just on the outskirts of Canggu. It was walking distance from my villa so I found myself here most days.
I love this place because of the open-air back yard, the incredible styling and friendly staff, you walk in and immediately feel that good vibe! It is usually fairly quiet during the days and the service is super fast. Another added bonus is that their tables are nice and big for working on!
Try the poke bowl, veggie burger or vegan pad thai. This is definitely of the best Canggu Cafes!

The menu is full of great options, including healthy wraps,s burgers and an array of Mexican options like burritos and tacos. There’s a cool vibe, thanks to the thatched roof and tree house style open-air dining. They also do super good juices and smoothies and if you’re feeling a bit cheeky, grab some of their baked goods.

Ooooooh Milu by Nook looks so lovely! We will likely be traveling here soon so this article is super helpful in knowing where we can find wifi for our work while we travel the area. Out of curiosity, what time of the year did you travel / when would you recommend going there?
